The Pivot Schools: Where Education Meets Innovation-The Pivot Schools, founded by Mr. Anthony Bowden and set to open in Fall 2025, will provide a transformative education experience for students in grades 6-12. By combining CTE with Social-Emotional Learning (SEL), The Pivot Schools will redefine the 21st-century student experience. The Pivot Schools Middle School will function as a Career Academy, equipping students with foundational skills to explore and prepare for future career paths. Meanwhile, The Pivot Schools High School will use Artificial Intelligence (AI) as its main CTE pathway, providing students with advanced tools and training to excel in emerging industries. The Pivot Schools is authorized and operates under the South Carolina Public Charter School District’s (SCPCSD) oversight and is held accountable to meet the state’s academic, operational, and financial standards. The Pivot Schools operates as a public charter school with flexibility in curriculum and school model while adhering to the district’s rigorous standards for educational quality and accountability. Year one will focus on serving 100 sixth- and seventh-grade students. A new grade level will be added each year.

Mr. Bowden’s background in Special Education and study of charter school models across the country have helped him to develop a model that he believes will resonate with students, particularly in underserved communities. “I understand the challenges many of our students face because I’ve lived them,” says Bowden. “Our goal is to build a strong foundation of support and opportunity, transforming lives through education.”

“As an educator and champion for impactful community engagement, I am excited to witness The Pivot Schools offer transformative opportunities to the North Aiken community,” says Kara Simmons, board chair of The Pivot Schools. “This institution marks a significant advancement in equipping our students for success in their careers and personal lives. By merging innovation, education, and social responsibility, we are creating a brighter future for Aiken County and its surrounding areas!”
