Why Choose The Pivot Schools?

Innovative Career and Technical Education (CTE)

Pivot is committed to preparing students for the future by focusing on technology-driven, high-demand career pathways. In middle school, we emphasize student interests and exploration through our daily Career Academy class, where students can discover their strengths and passions across various fields. By high school, our curriculum centers on AI and technology, ensuring that students gain hands-on experience in emerging industries that drive today’s workforce

Real World Education Through Project Based Learning

Pivot uses Project-Based Learning (PBL) to engage students in real-world problem-solving and critical thinking. Students work on collaborative projects that tie academic content to practical applications, making learning more meaningful and directly connected to career goals.

Social-Emotional Learning (SEL)

We emphasize daily SEL to nurture emotional intelligence, leadership, and interpersonal skills. This holistic approach helps students manage stress, build confidence, and develop strong social skills, leading to success both in school and in life.

Flexible Schedule with Virtual Fridays

Pivot offers a Monday-Thursday in-person schedule, with an asynchronous virtual learning day on Fridays. This innovative model allows students to practice independent learning while teachers focus on professional development, ensuring they stay at the forefront of educational best practices.

The Pivot Schools

A charter school is a public school that operates independently from the traditional school district system. Charter schools have more flexibility in their curriculum and operations, allowing them to innovate while still being held accountable for student achievement. Pivot is authorized by the South Carolina Public Charter School District.

Any student in the state of South Carolina is eligible to attend Pivot. We are open to all students, regardless of background or academic performance, and are committed to providing a high-quality education for every child.

The Pivot School is authorized by the South Carolina Public Charter School District (SCPCSD). This means we operate under SCPCSD’s oversight and are held accountable to meet the state’s academic, operational, and financial standards. Being authorized by SCPCSD allows The Pivot School to operate as a public charter school with flexibility in our curriculum and school model while still adhering to the district’s rigorous standards for educational quality and accountability. SCPCSD provides oversight and support to ensure that we meet the needs of our students and community.

Yes, as a public charter school, attendance at Pivot is free for all students. There are no tuition fees, and students receive the same state-funded support as traditional public school students.

Initially the first year, Pivot will serve grades 6th through 7th. Our plan is to expand by adding new grade levels each year until we get to 12th grade, ensuring students receive a continuous and progressive educational experience.

Pivot offers a unique blend of Career and Technical Education (CTE) and social-emotional Learning (SEL), to prepare students for both academic and career success in the 21st century. We focus on hands-on, real-world learning experiences and emphasize both emotional growth and technical skills.

CTE programs focus on teaching students practical skills that prepare them for careers in high-demand fields such as technology, healthcare, and engineering. At Pivot, students can explore careers and gain industry-relevant experience while still in school.

SEL programs at Pivot help students develop emotional intelligence, leadership, and interpersonal skills. We offer daily SEL classes to ensure students are not only academically prepared but also equipped with the social skills necessary for success in life.

Pivot School proudly leads South Carolina as the first to use Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a Career and Technical Education (CTE) pathway for high school students. This unique program immerses students in real-world projects that apply AI across career fields. By graduation, students are well-prepared for immediate career opportunities or further studies, making Pivot a pioneer in education that aligns with today’s tech-driven workforce.

Pivot’s innovative schedule includes Monday-Thursday in-person learning with virtual asynchronous Fridays, providing flexibility for students to practice independent learning. Fridays are also dedicated to teacher professional development, ensuring your child’s educators are constantly improving and using the latest best practices to enhance classroom learning.

Pivot offers a forward-thinking, 21st-century learning environment where students are empowered to explore their passions, build real-world skills, and grow emotionally.
